FOLLOWING the success of 2007’s Shanktown, the Ghetto Youth Theatre returns to the Millfield Arts Centre with the sequel, Shanktown 2: Shane’s Story, next week.
Taking it’s name from the nickname given to Edmonton following a bout of knife crimes, (Shank means to knife), the story picks up a year on from a fatal shooting and follows a young woman torn between her gang loyalties and a desire for the freedom of the wider world.
Her crew, The Forgotten Soldiers, and their old rivals, The Shanktown Goons, have called an uneasy truce, but a malicious outside influence is conspiring to bring them both down.
Produced and performed by the young people of Edmonton, the hard-hitting show features a powerful mix of live action and multi-media performance, with singing, dancing and rapping.
Shanktown 2: Shane’s Story runs at the Millfield Arts Centre from Tuesday, February 16 to Wednesday, February 17, 7.30pm. For tickets call 020 8807 6680 or visit www.millfieldartscentre.co.uk
