Thieves stole everything I had left of my dead mum

8:59am Wednesday 20th February 2008

A BRIDE-TO-BE who lost her entire collection of family jewellery when her flat was burgled is appealing for help in getting it back.

Sarah Upsall, 29, of Windmill Hill, has lost all the jewellery given to her by her mother and grandmother.

The jewels were the last things Miss Upsall had which originally belonged to her late mother, who died in a car crash.

The collection includes all Miss Upsall's christening jewellery and an antique peacock necklace she was planning to wear on her wedding day.

Over £1,300 of goods were taken, including two laptops, iPods and other electronic equipment, when burglars raided her flat on February 3.

Miss Upsall, who plans to wed Grant Gahagan in early May, said: "There are so many items that got stolen that I find it quite overwhelming.

"(The jewellery) is perhaps the most precious and sentimental, especially as it was all that I had left as keepsakes from my mum and grandmother.

"I quite literally have nothing left now from them.

"Any information any of the readers can give would be so wonderful. Even if it is that they saw it somewhere, I can maybe get a step closer to recovering some of it.

"I hate the thought they are with someone else who won't realise how important they are to me."

Among the items Miss Upsall is desperate to retrieve is a 1960s wind-up silver rotary watch with a brick design bracelet strap. The face of the watch is oval and it has dashes instead of numbers or numerals.

Also taken were a diamond-shaped Marcasite ring, Marcasite and onyx ear rings, a matching necklace in tarnished silver and a pair of silver and amber cufflinks that Mr Gahagan was planning on wearing on their wedding day.

Anyone who has seen any of the jewellery or knows of its whereabouts should contact Enfield Police on 020 8807 1212.
