A head boy has achieved four A*s at A-levels - and has gained a place to study medicine at Cambridge University.

Kesavan Sivanesan, the head boy at Winchmore School, was thrilled to receive his grades this morning.

He prepared for his study of Medicine by undertaking a placement at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and volunteering at a local care home.

He also taught GCSE Hinduism at a Saturday School and regularly inspired younger students at his own school, by speaking at presentation evenings and assemblies, in July welcoming the new Year 7 students during their transition day from primary school.

He has attended UCAS workshops, university visits and received interview practice organised by the Sixth Form.

He said: "I’m extremely glad that I got my place . I really want to thank the school for everything they have done to help me get my grades and university offer. I’m really excited for the future.”

Head of sixth form, Lisa Hughes said “We are extremely proud and absolutely delighted with Kesavan’s achievements.

"He really is a wonderful young man and will make a great doctor. We encourage all of our students to aim high and give them excellent guidance and support with their university applications."
