Last week, we reported that ten serious accidents had occurred on a section of the A1010 Hertford Road due to floating parking bays, according to residents.
Concerned locals reported vehicles being badly damaged or written off due to ‘floating’ parking bays built out into the main carriageway to accommodate cycle lanes near Tramway Avenue.
The council has now clarified that its data show there have only been five minor accidents along this stretch of the A1010 since the implementation of the Cycle Enfield scheme.
It said no-one had been injured in any of these accidents and action had been taken to address the issue.
The council has already suspended a parking bay near Tramway Avenue following an independent review.
