London saw the most significant monthly fall in house prices in the whole of the UK from January to February this year.

The UK House Price Index for February 2018 shows that the average price of a house in London fell by 2.1 per cent.

Data also showed that in February 2017 the average price of a house in London was £476, 717, compared to February 2018 when it was £471, 986 - a fall of 1 per cent.

The biggest drop affected prices of flats or maisonettes, which fell by 3.4 per cent between February 2017 and February 2018.

However, the price of semi-detached property in London rose by 3.1 per cent throughout the same time.

In contrast to the capital, house prices have risen in the whole of the UK by 0.2 per cent since January 2018.
