A woman who has lived through two world wars is turning 100.

Vera Landsberg was born during the last year of World War One, on June 21 1918, in Wood Green.

As a child Vera’s mother and father owned a leather goods making business.

She spent her childhood in Westbury Ave, Wood Green, with her five sisters and two brothers.

Meeting her future husband Albert while working at a local bakery, they married in 1941 and moved to Tottenham.

Having two daughters Carole and Wendy, Vera and her husband worked to provide their family, Albert in a post office and Vera in a school for deaf children.

Vera and Albert moved to Enfield in 1968 where she worked at the George Spicer Primary School as a welfare assistant.

Albert died in 1995 and all of Vera’s siblings have since passed.

Vera is grandmother to four grandchildren aged to 53 to 40 years old and a Great Grandmother to five aged four to 25 years old.

Still a very independent lady, Vera is proud to remain in her family home of 50 years, according to her family.

Vera’s family and friends are looking forward to celebrating her turning 100 at a party in Bush Hill Park.
