A charity which supports some of Haringey's poorest residents has received a boost from a major shopping centres.

Citizens advice project Crutch Haringey was chosen by The Mall shopping centre at Wood Green to be its nominated charity of the year for 2018.

The charity will now receive extra support in its work helping residents who are struggling to provide essentials for themselves and their families including food, clothing and shelter.

Dean Wigzell, team leader of Crutch Haringey, said: “It’s a huge help for us to be selected as The Mall’s Charity of the year.

"As a small but well needed resource, to be supported by a borough landmark is fantastic. Hopefully the funds raised by the Mall will convert in to helping people who really need the support, and the exposure will bring awareness to our cause as well.”

The Mall will be hosting a number of activities, events and campaigns with Crutch Haringey throughout 2018 to raise vital funds for the charity’s ongoing work.

Isaiah Fapuro, marketing manager of The Mall Wood Green, said: “The charity provides a wonderful service for the borough’s residents. We will work closely with the Crutch Haringey Team throughout the year to help promote their fantastic support facilities and, most importantly, help them raise vital funds so their services can continue to be used by locals in and around our area.”
