A campaigner is celebrating with neighbours after learning that a dangerous bus stop will be relocated.

Rosemary Bodger had been calling for the bus stop near Whitehall Park School in Ashmount Road to be moved for over 12 months.

Construction work at the school had damaged the pavement making it difficult for elderly and disabled people to use the stop.

Rosemary, a resident and campaigner, said: “I am delighted that the bus stop has been moved.

“After campaigning for more than a year with my neighbours, we are now able to get around more in the future.

“People in wheelchairs and the disabled will once more be able to get onto the W5 bus safely from the wider pavement which has just been constructed near the top of Stanhope Road.

“This will mean easier trips to the shops; the Whittington Hospital, and for visits to friends and family.”

Labour London Assembly Member for Enfield and Haringey arranged for residents, Haringey Council and Transport for London to meet to discuss a new location for the stop in February 2017.

Now funding has been secured the bus stop will be moved to a safer place at the top of Stanhope Road.

Joanna McCartney AM, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to secure the move of the bus stop for local residents on Hornsey Lane.

“It was good to meet with residents and stakeholders and work out a solution to this issue.

"The safety of local residents is paramount and moving the bus stop will make it both safer and more convenient for those using the W5."
