Enfield Over-50s Forum’s fifth annual Winter Fair will be held later this week.

It is planned for Friday February 16 at Enfield County School, in Holly Walk, between 9:30am and 5pm.

There is a full programme planned with speeches from Cllr Krystle Fonyonga, Enfield Council cabinet member for community safety an public health, Stuart Lines, director of public health, London Borough of Enfield, Ashraf Choudhury, national wellbeing manager at Independent Age, and Dr Manish Kumar, chairman of Enfield local medical committee.

Folk dancing and workshops on singing, crime prevention, Smart Meters and worry management, financial abuse of older people, stroke awareness and recording memories for posterity are also scheduled.

Stalls include AgeUK Enfield, Crossroads and Enfield Carers Centre, Enfield Women’s Centre, Ruth Winston Centre and many more.

Free tea and cake will be available and a raffle with £10 voucher prizes held.

President Monty Meth said: “We hear a lot about Britain’s ageing population, but all too little about the years we spend with good health and able to enjoy the good life.

“It is one thing to live to a ripe old age, quite another to live a healthy life into old age.

“So, the aim should be not just to live longer, but to live longer in good health – and this is the theme and the message we seek to pass on at the Winter Fair.”
