A day of seminars and networking is planned for the benefit of the borough’s small businesses.

Enterprise Enfield is to run a ‘Big Ideas for Small Businesses’ drop-in day on Saturday December 2.

Advice on starting up a business, business planning, raising finance, sales, marketing and web design will be offered.

The Enterprise’s Hub business facilities will also be open to the public.

Enfield Enterprise works with 1,000 new clients annually.

It offers start up and growth services from its head office in Enfield Business Centre.

Enfield Enterprise is a Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy approved Local Enterprise Agency.

Enfield Council is also getting behind Small Business Saturday.

It is asking people to ‘be part of something good’, and ask the public to shop locally as Christmas approaches.

The Council magazine, Enjoy Enfield, promotes businesses and tells the community of goings-on

Its latest edition is Christmas-themed.

Cllr Alan Sitkin, Enfield Council’s cabinet member for economic regeneration and business, said: “We are committed to supporting local businesses and urge our residents to shop at their nearest town centre on Small Business Saturday and in the run up to Christmas.

“Local shopping helps keep independent shops and suppliers alive while retaining the distinctive character of neighbourhoods.

“We all benefit from having thriving and successful town centres.

“Enfield Council will continue to help nurture small enterprises, create favourable conditions for growth and support commerce.”

The Federation of Small Businesses reports that for every £1 spent with a local or medium-sized business, 63 percent is re-spent in the local area.

Money retailers make is re-invested in job creation, and the payment of staff and business rates.

Local authorities can plough revenue from business rates back into the borough.

The Wenta Business Centre, meanwhile, is to hold a free ‘Thank You’ evening to give businesses at its Enfield Acentre the opportunity to promote themselves.

A drop-in surgery and chance to learn from a Public Relations masterclass is to be held on Wednesday November 29.

Wenta offers help with start-up advice, mentoring and training, and workspace, meeting room and virtual office space as well as running tailored training programmes.
