A RETIRED maths teacher and golf captain hopes to raise £5,000 with his golf club for a diabetes charity.
David Dickinson, who was diagnosed with the disease 31 years ago, and his team at Bush Hill Park Golf Club, will all support the cause.
The 67-year-old said: “I was diagnosed with diabetes back in 1986 when I was 36, so when it came to choosing my charity of the year as club captain there was no contest.
“I play golf whenever I get the chance which helps with my overall health.”
The captain’s ‘drive-in’ started the year of fundraising.
David made a single shot and club members paid to guess how far it would travel.
More events are planned.
David’s wife, Irene, who is captain of the golf club’s ladies team is fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society.
