PEOPLE gathered to unveil a new plaque honouring a "generous" family.
Epping Town Council lifted the curtain on the blue plaque dedicated to The Silley Family, owners of the original Theydon Grove House, now the Theydon Grove estate.
The family gifted much to the people of Epping, including the Stonards Hill Recreation Ground and the Jack Silley Pavillion.
It was unveiled by Epping Town Mayor Cllr Tony Church, with the homeowner's grandson.
The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Freedom of Epping, town councillors and Theydon Trusts Ltd - who put forward the idea for the plaque - were all invited.
The Epping Society and neighbouring residents were also present.
The plaque can be seen on the corner of Theydon Grove, near the Town Green, Epping.
