A TESCO lorry brazenly mounted the pavement as it made a delivery - totally blocking the pathway for anyone trying to get through.

The branch, in High Street, Wanstead, also left people horrified when it parked in bays meant for disabled drivers without getting a ticket.

These brazen acts are the third time in the space of a month the chain has come under fire for ignoring basic parking etiquette.

At the end of June, staff were caught blocking parking spots with crates ahead of a big delivery - leaving shoppers visiting the area unable to find a space.

The revelation this week has left people angry and questioning how the chain can get away with such practice without getting a ticket.

Paul Keogh, who spotted the illegal parking, fears it could put disabled people off from visiting the high street, leaving them cut off.

He said: "It's bad enough we've had to fight Redbridge Council for parking rights - now we have Tesco block the few spaces available illegally."

The authority is currently devising a plan to introduce pay-and-display bays on the high street, where it is currently free to park.

Residents are also attempting to block plans to make some roads in the area a CPZ, meaning they would have to buy permits to park outside their houses.

Parking wardens regularly trail the area and will give tickets to any care who fails to adhere to the restrictions - a fate Tesco so far seems to have escaped.

A Tesco spokesperson said it would look into what happened.

A statement said: “We take our responsibilities as a good neighbour very seriously, so we are sorry that we have not met these standards on this occasion.

"We are investigating the delivery operation at our store and working with the team to ensure this does not happen again. We regret any inconvenience caused to local residents.”
