Tottenham born director and screenwriter Jason Ferguson has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise support and financial backing for his “complexly layered thriller” film Ties Of The Ribbon.

The film explores the relationship between two men and their unusual connection to a string of disappearances. One morning, Mr. Violet awakens to a flurry of texts from a familiar source but chooses to ignore the texts throughout his day, which will leave the audience wondering if the person trying to get in touch is a spurned lover, worried spouse, or something worse.

Feeling guilty, Mr. Violet stops by his favorite florist’s run by Mr. Fairbrooke to pick up some flowers for the mysterious texter.

As the day draws to a close, Mr Violet returns home but notices something strange about the apartment and more significantly, the bed.

There seems to have been a struggle and the bedroom door is ajar. Something stirs from underneath the covers and the door shuts behind him...

Jason says the Kickstarter will cover the production and equipment needed for the producing the “high-end” film.

He began to curate the film and develop his vision for it more than two years ago. Since then, Ties of the Ribbon has received support from documentary filmmaker Vanessa Van-Yeboah, who has worked for projects on Channel 4 and also colourist Michelle Kort, who has worked on Ex Machina, The Crown and The King’s Speech.

Jason says: “In order to create a cinematic, visual masterpiece on a short film budget, we have pulled-in favours from our contacts all over the film industry, as well as some very talented emerging talent, including our Sound Design team that has worked with the likes of Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Wretch 32, Noam Murro, 20th Century Fox, Biscuit Filmworks, Pantene, Universal Music, Tilney, Grey London and Sony Pictures.

“Their work and the work of our talented DOP Hax Ahmet will be essential for adding emotion into our visuals.”

“When writing the script, I really wanted to capture the essence of classic 80 and 90’s thrillers like Basic Instinct, War of the Roses and Body Heat, but with a modern take on the story. With the film being a short, it was crucial for me to capture key moments while taking the audience through a series of layered moments.”

The Kickstarter campaign is officially live until April 30, 2017.
