THE LIST of prima doners shortlisted for the British Kebab Awards 2017 has been revealed.

A number of restaurants and takeaways in east London have been included in the list that was decided after a public vote.

Hygiene scores were also taken into consideration and bonus points were awarded to places nominated by MPs.

Top chef - Ahmed Mehmed at Deja Vu Garden in Walthamstow High Street and Emrah Savas at Mez-Opatamia in High Road, South Woodford.

Best kebab house in east England - Mezze Ocakbasi in Johnstone Road, Woodford Green.

Best kebab restaurant in north and east London - Aksular Restaurant in Hertford Road, Enfield.

Best newcomer in London - Gokyuzu Restaurant in Southend Road, Chingford and Mez-Opatamia in High Road, South Woodford.

Best takeaway in London - Pinar Kebab in Hoe Street, Walthamstow.
Fine dining - Sheesh in High Road, Chigwell.

Outstanding contribution to the kebab industry – Esin Cash and Carry in Centenary Road, Enfield.

The winners of the 15 categories will be announced at a ceremony in Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on Sunday, 26 February. Judges include Shadow Economic Secretary Jonathan Reynolds and MP Nadhim Zahawi. 

Guests will be served Bira, the first beer in the world to be brewed especially for kebabs.

British Kebab Awards and Bira creator Ibrahim Dogus said: “Year on year we see fiercer contests between the best kebab chefs in the country all battling to be crowned kebab kings and there’s no shortage of people wanting to judge for themselves.”.”
