Eager schools are challenging children to help set a record for reading aloud.
The five Cuckoo Hall Academies Trust (CHAT) schools are competing against each other to get kids to read 30,000 hours out loud over the next six months.
The Read Aloud 2017 intiative was launched by Enfield Council to get children reading to their parents for 15 minutes each day, and is believed to be one of the biggest reading challenges ever set.
The partcipating schools are Woodpecker Hall Primary Academy, Kingfisher Hall Primary Academy, Enfield Heights Academy, Cuckoo Hall Academy, and Heron Hall Academy.
The project was launched at Woodpecker Hall Primary Academy in Edmonton where families read to from books including Roald Dahl’s “The Twits” and Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist” to an audience of 500.
