A TEENAGE girl from Upper Edmonton who was shot in a Tottenham pub died at the weekend from her injuries.

Annaka Pinto, 17, died at the Royal London Hospital on Sunday afternoon following the shooting earlier that morning in the Swan pub and club on Philip Lane, Tottenham.

The death of the promising sixth form pupil has left friends shocked and devastated.

Richard Brown, deputy head at Annaka's school, Gladesmore Community School in Tottenham, said: "Obviously the school is very shocked by what happened to her. She was a valued member of our community.

"She had a fantastic life ahead of her that has now been taken from her. People here, especially her friends, are devastated."

A keen dancer, Annaka used to perform in school assemblies and shows. She was well know and well liked, said Mr Brown, who was also Annaka's English teacher.

He added: "She was always very friendly and got on well with students and staff. She will be greatly missed by us all."

A 19-year-old male and two females aged 16 and 20 were arrested over the incident but have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Annaka is the second 17-year-old girl to be killed this month in Enfield-related incidents.

Danielle Johnson, who was attacked in Palmerstone Road, Palmers Green, died on Friday, June 8.

Police investigating Annaka's killing believe an altercation occurred prior to the incident involving a black male, but said they were keeping an open mind regarding the motive at this stage in their inquiry.

An incident room under Detective Chief Inspector Scott Wilson has opened, with Operation Trident carrying out the investigation.

Officers from Operation Trident, set up to bring an end to shootings and murders amongst young, black Londoners, are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident which occurred at around 5am on Sunday morning.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or can assist the inquiry should contact the incident room on 8733 4704, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
