Enfield Borough stretched their unbeaten run to nine games with a 5-1 victory over Clean Slate FC on Saturday and now sit second in the Spartan South Midlands Division Two table.

Tom Opoku lobbed the Slate keeper after he was played in by Jamiah-Plentie Lawrence.

Five minutes later the hosts found themselves 2-0 up after Henderson Browne curled the ball into the net directly from a corner.

They added their third goal just before the break as Alfie Hatch stepped up to take a 20 yard free-kick and bent the ball over the wall and into the net.

In the second half the hosts added a fourth goal as substitute Ola Akinwande got on the scoresheet.

And they made it five once again, this time through Dominic Coker-Ojo who has scored in Borough’s last three games, before Slate got a consolation goal from the penalty spot.

Manager Marvin Walker said: “I thought we were totally dominant for the majority of the game.

“Clean Slate looked like they came for a draw. They were sitting deep and had lots of players behind the ball, so we did very well to break them down early.”

“Some of the goals we scored were top class. Our squad is looking strong at the moment. We still had 1 or 2 players missing but everyone that steps on the pitch for us is doing a great job.

“We want to keep our unbeaten run going. We have a tough game against Totternhoe tonight and if we win, we can go top of the league which would be nice.”
