CHILDREN will be able to go out and play on the streets without fear of “rat-running” traffic.
Roads in Palmers Green will be closed for certain periods of time to allow children to explore the area and meet their friends in a safe environment.
Play Quarters will be run by London Play.
Mother Kara O’Rourke, who was instrumental in setting up one Palmers Green Play Street, said: “My three kids didn’t have the freedom we should reasonably expect children to experience due to a street full of rat-running traffic and nor did they know all possible friends in their street.
“That’s now solved with so many local families and neighbours familiar to them as a result of our play street”.
During play time, the roads will be closed to traffic and all sessions will be overseen by a qualified play coordinator.
The play sessions should begin at the end of this year or early next year.
