Queues down the high street as Wood Green pound shop opens
There were queues down the street in Wood Green today (October 6) at the opening of a new pound shop.
Poundworld have opened a new branch in the former BHS department store on High Road, which closed when the chain collapsed in late August.
The new owners, who are opening their first branch in Wood Green, say it has created 30 new jobs for the area
On Saturday, the store will celebrate its first weekend with free face painting and an appearance from Poundworld’s official mascot, Percy the Pound.
Area manager Sasan Jahanbazy said: “This morning’s opening was a great success – it was fantastic to welcome Wood Green shoppers through our doors for the first time and we’re delighted to have a shop in such a prime location.”
