Weather

Heavy rain is set to continue until about 4pm this afternoon, as temperatures drop following the hot weather this week. It is currently about 19°C but the temperature will fall to 15°C by around 1pm.

Thunder and lightning could come with an “exceptionally large amount of rain” this morning, with the potential for flash flooding and major disruption.

An Environment Agency flood warning, meaning flooding is expected, is in place on the Small River Lee at Cheshunt down to Waltham Abbey and Waltham Cross. Low lying land, roads and property are expected to flood.

A larger flood alert, meaning it is likely that rivers could overflow, is in place on the Lower Lee Tributaries, from Nazeing in the north down to Tottenham and large parts of Enfield.

Tube

7.22am: There is currently a good service on all Tube, Overground and TfL Rail services in the area.

Travel

7.23am: Two lanes are closed on the M25 clockwise between junction 25 in Enfield and junction 26 in Waltham Abbey, because of a crash involving a car and a lorry. Traffic is congested to junction 24. Traffic is also queuing in the other direction because of people slowing to look at the accident.

There is heavy traffic on the M11 southbound between junctions seven to six, and five to four.

The A504 is partially flooded at Turnpike Lane Station, causing disruption.
