A student says she feels “on top of the world” after getting a special award from her university.

Amisha Patel, from Wood Green, has won Best Project Performance from the University of Greenwich’s faculty of engineering and science.

Ms Patel, 22, has just completed her pharmaceutical science degree programme at the university, and previously studied at Greig City Academy.

She said: “I feel on top of the world. I am so happy to receive this award, as all the hard work has paid off. I am grateful and it was so unexpected.”

Ms Patel intends to continue her pharmaceutical studies with a master’s degree at Greenwich this coming year.

Professor Martin Snowden, pro vice-chancellor of Greenwich, congratulated her, calling it a “marvellous achievement”.

He said: “There is great competition among our talented students to be selected for a special award and I am delighted that her hard work and dedication has been richly rewarded.

“Amisha fully deserves her success and I look forward to seeing her embark on a successful career.”
