A former banker has been appointed the new head of five Enfield schools.

Marino Charalambous has been appointed the new chief executive of Cuckoo Hall Academies Trust (CHAT), which runs Cuckoo Hall Academy, Woodpecker Hall Academy, Kingfisher Hall Primary Academy, Heron Hall Academy, and Enfield Heights Academy.

The schools, all rated either outstanding or good by Ofsted, have a combined total of 2,000 students and 300 staff.

Mr Charalambous started his career in the finance sector, working as a senior manager for HSBC and Siemens UK.

He then started his own marketing business, working with various industries including education.

He said: “I am excited by my new role and the chance to lead the school community.

“Helping our students achieve their maximum potential must be at the heart of everything that we do. I look forward to working closely with the trustees, our excellent teachers and staff, parents, carers and governors in order to ensure we build on the successes of our schools as we anticipate and plan for the changing needs of students in the years ahead.”
