An Enfield primary school is waiting to find out if it set a world record during their Queen’s birthday celebrations.

Eldon Primary School held a celebration on their school field on Tuesday, June 21 for all 1100 children and 225 members of staff.

As part of the party all the pupils took part in a giant game of musical bumps, with the current record for the largest number of people to take part in a game being 650.

They have now sent off video and pictures from the day to the Guinness World Records, and are hopeful they have made a little bit of history.

School administrative officer Elena Robinson said: “We came up with idea of musical bumps, then someone sarcastically said ‘I wonder what the record is’. We looked it up, and realised ‘we can smash that’.

“We have sent over the video and pictures, now we are just waiting for confirmation.

“We are so excited. A lot of people dismissed it as we had so many children, but it was so well organised.

“It was an amazing day for the children and staff and was so lovely seeing the children so happy.”

Musical bumps were not the only entertainment on offer for the children last week.

Head teacher Julie Messer paraded the school field dressed as the Queen, and took to the top deck of a London bus to wave to all the children as they arrived.

Another teacher, Sinead Thompson, performed a stilt walking and fire breathing act, and the school choir performed the National Anthem.

There was also a raffle, and Ms Robinson said the money raised has bought the school a brand new sound system for use in future events
