You’ve probably seen the new Nike advert doing the rounds for Euro 2016.

Young ball boy at a match between England and Portugal clashes heads with Cristiano Ronaldo, wakes up in the superstar’s body, he lives out the dream of being his footballing idol.

But did you know the boy in question actually comes from Edmonton Green?

Gerson Adao, 17 is currently studying for a sport diploma at Barnet and Southgate College, and while he plans to go to university he hopes his new role could lead to a career in acting or advertising.

He’s now appearing daily on millions of TV screens across the world in the advert, called “The Switch”.

He got the role after the sports department of the college were approached by a TV producer, who was a former student, and they arranged to come along to one of the college’s football training days in search of a star for Nike.

Gerson says he is now regularly being stopped for selfies by fellow students, fans in the street and even on the bus.

He said: “It was just a normal training day at college and I just went along with agreeing to be considered for the advert because some of my friends on the course were also going to as well, but the whole thing has been an amazing dream come true. My Mum can’t believe it either.”

Gerson reached the shortlist of three candidates and a casting session in Madrid, where he stood out not only for his footballing talent and good looks, but because he also speaks fluent Portuguese so was able to chat freely with Ronaldo.

He said: “I thought he might be arrogant, but it’s the opposite, he’s such a lovely person. He was talking to me like I was family, as if I’d known him for ages.”

The advert has so far received more than 34 million hits on YouTube and is on throughout the Euro 2016 tournament.
