A fire station will open its doors to the public this weekend to celebrate the London Fire Brigade’s 150th birthday.
Free activities and fire safety advice will be on offer from firefighters at Southgate Fire Station on Saturday, June 25 from 11am to 4pm.
Fire crews will perform a ladder rescue, breathing apparatus drill and a car rescue exercise, and be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate how their equipment works.
There will be face painting and visitors of all ages will be able to sit inside a fire engine, operate fire hoses and see inside a command support vehicle used by officers at large incidents.
Southgate Fire Station has operated from its High Street base since 1972.
