The people of Enfield are being encouraged to register to vote in the upcoming EU referendum.

The vote, which will take place on Thursday, June 23, will ask people the question of whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union, or leave.

In order to participate residents must be registered, and the deadline for applying is Tuesday, June 7.

You will be able to vote in person at your polling station on June 23, while the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday, June 8.

Enfield Council’s cabinet member for finance and efficiency Cllr Dino Lemonides said they were hoping to match the 43.5 per cent turnout for the Greater London Authority (GLA) elections earlier this month.

He said: “The EU referendum is a once in a generation chance for local people to have a real say over the way our country interacts with Europe and globally.

"If you haven’t already registered to vote it is absolutely vital to get registered now, or lose your voice on this really important matter.”
