A man who kidnapped and assaulted his victim in an unexplained attack has been jailed.

Fitzroy Masters, 35, of Kimberley Road, Edmonton was found guilty of GBH, kidnap and possession of a firearm following a five-week trial at Croydon Crown Court, and jailed for 11 years on Friday, April 22.

The Metropolitan Police say throughout the investigation and the trial, neither the defendant nor the victim has ever given a possible explanation or reason for the attack.

The court heard police were called at 9.30pm on Monday, October 5 to Chalfont Road, South Norwood.

Officers found the victim, a 37-year-old man, in Beulah Hill near the junction with Grange Road.

He was taken to a south London hospital where he was treated for head injuries, which were not life-threatening.

Masters had arranged to meet the victim at an address in Chalfont Road, where he ambushed him with a group of men and a woman.

They bundled the victim into a car and Masters assaulted him, including pistol-whipping him.

The victim was then dumped out of the car which drove off.

Masters and three other people were arrested and charged.

The three others - Kiara Henry, 30, of Thornley Close, Tottenham, Marcus Harris, 40, of Lakehall Road, Thornton Heath, and Marcus Hamilton, 45, of no fixed address, were all found not guilty of the same charges as Masters.
