One night of karaoke in July for two brothers ended with them saving 14 people from a pub fire.

A taxi was due to collect Jon Doyle, 27, who was getting married in September, as well as brother Toby, 23, and six other friends at 4.30am as they prepared for a boozy weekend in the Costa Blanca.

Yet the night was to take an unthinkable twist hours before their collection when Toby noticed smoke coming from the back of The Stag pub, in Little Park Gardens, Enfield Town, next to his home.

Toby smashed through the window of the pub in order to open the door to where the bedrooms were and save the people in a heroic act.

A woman was left in agony after suffering severe burns from a toxic plant growing in an Enfield park.

Ann Quinlan, 55, cancelled birthday plans and a charity swim in the River Thames following the incident which saw her legs balloon and resulted in four days of treatment at North Middlesex University Hospital, in Sterling Way, Edmonton.

The Enfield woman was taking a leisurely stroll with her two dogs through the park, in Forty Hill, when she brushed past Hogweed Plant.

Finally, a paedophile who “marred the teenage years” of two girls was sentenced to more than ten years behind bars.

Mustafa Seyranoglu, 34, of Pinnata Close, Enfield, “manipulated and corrupted” the two, who are 14 and 15, while working as a learning mentor at a school in the borough.

The 34-year-old father changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on nine counts including four counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, three counts of sexual assault on female, one count of causing to incite a girl, aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity; and one count of perverting the course of justice.

The court heard how Seyranoglu had sex with the 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, more than ten times at his home, in his car and at the school.
