HUNDREDS of lights will be switched on at North London Hospice to commemorate loved ones.

The annual Light up a Life ceremony will take place this Sunday (November 29) in the hospice grounds in Woodside Avenue, North Finchley.

People of all ages and faiths will join together for a multi-faith service, before the lights are switched on the horse chestnut tree outside.

The lights will then shine every evening from 4pm to 9pm until early January.

North London Hospice fundraising director Robin Langrishe said: "Light up a Life is one of our best-loved and most meaningful events. Last year more

than 1,000 people attended the ceremony.

“It represents a time to be comforted and to share hope with others. Our event is open to all, not just those who have experienced hospice care. Anyone can sponsor a light by making a donation, no matter how big or small, to the hospice."

The names of everyone remembered and celebrated will be put into a book, which will be displayed at both hospice sites in Finchley and Winchmore Hill.

All of the money raised will help provide care and support to patients and their families and friends across Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.
