Hundreds of patients and staff at a hospital in a sixties sing along as part of a free concert.

Enfield Community Singers performed for an hour at North Middlesex University Hospital, in Sterling Way.

The singers did renditions of West End musicals to Glory, Glory Hallelujah as onlookers joined in the free lunchtime concert.

Chairman John Carrier told the audience of patients, doctors, nurses and visitors: “We had a chance meeting at the Enfield Town Show with the choral director of the choir, Simon Gilbert, and this fantastic concert is the result. We are delighted to have them.”

Enfield Community Singers’ leader and conductor Simon Gilbert said: “Music brings a little happiness to everyone. We are delighted to be able to perform here and the acoustics and space is fantastic.”

The hospital is looking to host several regular events at atrium to give some entertainment for hospital staff and patients.

Head of communications Paul Wastell said: “It’s a fabulous place to perform and it makes the hospital a friendlier place for our patients. We are asking local musicians, poets and storytellers who can help make these Arts in the Atrium events a success to please get in touch.”
