MPs in the borough have paid respects to those who lost their lives in the Paris terror attacks over the weekend.

The French capital was targeted in three separate incidents has left at least 127 dead.

Enfield council flew the French flag at half-mast with schools and work places hosting a minutes silence to pay tribute.

Enfield Southgate MP David Burrowes paid his respects to the victims.

He said: “Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the victims of the Paris massacre. It was an attack on individuals expressing the freedom of a civilised world by individuals expressing the terror of an uncivilised ideology of militant Islam.

“We must stand and act in solidarity with France and be vigilant and resilient to repel ISIL.”

Joan Ryan, Enfield North MP added: “I am shocked and saddened by the tragic events that took place in Paris on Friday night.

“I mourn the terrible loss of life. I offer my deepest condolences to the families of the 129 victims and the many injured, as well as the citizens of Paris.

We stand in solidarity with the French people. The values of Liberté, Égalité and Fraternité are our values too. And together we will remain resolute in the face of these outrageous attacks against our democracy and way of life.”

Edmonton MP Kate Osamor said: “The shooting and bombings which took place in Paris on Friday night were horrific and unjustifiable acts of violence.

“My thoughts go out to all those who lost their loved ones in the attack, to all the people of Paris, and all those affected by the violence of Islamic State worldwide.”
