A GROUP which helps people with heart problems celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Heart Throbs, a support group based in Enfield, marked the event with a lunch at Bush Hill Park Golf Club.

The day, which was attended by 70 people, included entertainment from magician Paul Daniels and his assistant, Debbie Magee.

Honorary secretary Joan Firth said:Organising the 25th anniversary lunch was a lot of hard work but it was worth it to see everyone's face when Paul Daniels and Debbie Magee walked into the room.

"We had managed to keep this a secret from most of the members. I cannot praise highly enough Debbie Sanders and the staff at Bush Hill Park Golf Club. They ensured that the delicious lunch went without a hitch, with suitable meals for those with special dietary requirements.

"Lots of members asked afterwards if we are going to have another lunch next year - they were so pleased with the day."

Heart Throbs was founded in 1990 by Sister Noirin Egan in Melbourne Ward, the coronary care unit, at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield.

It has grown into one of the leading and most active cardiac support groups in north London and the surrounding area.

The group encourages people to lead active lifestyles after heart surgery.
