Edmonton MP Kate Osamor has been given a top role in Jeremy Corbyn’s newly formed team.
After being appointed in May as MP, Osamor was named Parliamentary Private Secretary for Mr Corbyn.
The role will involve acting as a link between backbench opinion and the leader of the party.
Osamor voted for Corbyn during the Labour leadership contest and worked with him on his leadership campaign.
In a historic moment for the constituency, Osamor is the first MP for the area to acquire such a prominent role within a party.
“Jeremy asked me personally if I would like this new role and I was delighted to accept it. He is great to work with and we share similar political vision.” Said the proud MP.
“I am still first and foremost a constituency MP, and whilst I’m excited to have this new position, my work in Edmonton is my priority.”
She will share the role with Steve Rotheram MP.
