A man who was allegedly making threats to kill and had a firearm has been shot dead by police.
Detectives were called to an address in Barnet at around 9.30pm last night but the man had left the house before they arrived.
Later that night, armed officers were called to an address in Picardy House, in Cedar Road, Enfield, shortly before 11.50pm.
There, an officer shot dead a white man who is believed to be 43-years-old.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and a firearm which did not belong to police was recovered.
Formal identification awaits.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, the watchdog which investigates all deaths involving police officers.
The Met Police's Directorate of Professional Standards, which investigates officers' actions and ethics, is also in attendance at the scene.
Police vehicles remain parked outside the 11-storey form local authority building today as officers continued their investigations.
Tenants said the shooting happened outside a flat on the sixth floor, which has been sealed off by police.
