A company that formerly ran a quasar have been fined more than £6,000 for having a unhygienic kitchen.

The Enfield Quasar, in Queensway, was found to have a filthy kitchen with dirty equipment and food not being cooked properly.

Health officers demanded a deep clean following the inspection on June 28, 2014.

The case was heard at Tottenham Magistrates' Court on the August 20, 2015.

During a follow-up visit on the September 25, 2014 officers were informed that three members of staff had been booked on a level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering course.

Since the prosecution the management of the venue has changed, and the premises are now fully compliant.

Councillor Daniel Anderson, Enfield council's cabinet member for environment, said: "It is completely unacceptable for places which sell food to endanger the health of customers by failing to take proper precautions and operating filthy and unhygienic premises.

"Enfield council does not tolerate businesses who cannot or will not comply with the law, we take a dim view of premises which fail to adhere to safe cooking practices or who do not keep their kitchens clean, and we will continue to close down dirty or unhygienic food premises that endanger the health of our residents.

“I am delighted to hear that, under new management, Enfield Quasar has now passed all its health inspections.”
