The A-level pass rate in the borough’s schools has dropped.

The average pass rate dropped from 98.4 per cent to 97.9 per cent but still keeps Enfield’s schools in line with the national average.

Figures from the local authority also show that more than half of students who took A-levels gained an A*-B grades and 75 per cent achieved A*-C.

Edmonton County and Enfield County achieved a 100 per cent pass rate with raised grades, with Chace Community, Kingsmead Academy, Lea Valley High, Nightingale Academy, Oasis Hadley and St Anne’s all improving on their results from last year.

However, Aylward, Bishop Stopford, Broomfield, Enfield Grammar, Highlands, Oasis Academy Enfield, St Ignatius, Latymer and Winchmore, all saw drops in the pass rates.

Nightingale Academy has leapt up with an 8.7 per cent improvement in passes.

Overall the measure of high grades known as points per entry has risen to 221.5 compared with 215.7 last year.

Councillor Ayfer Orhan, Enfield council’s cabinet member for education, children’s services and protection, said: “This year, students have achieved higher grades in their chosen subjects and this reflects their hard work and ambition to succeed.

“Teachers also work extremely hard to ensure all students fulfil their potential for A-levels and other post-16 examinations, all of which will help young people in the next stage of their education. Congratulations to all of them.”
