A burst water pipe has resulted in hundreds of home with low or no water supply for more than eight hours.

The large water main burst last night, flooding a section of Enfield Road, leaving engineers working through the night to stem the flow.

Around 200 homes in the EN2 area of Enfield have been affected by the burst pipe.

Chris Featherstone, head of operational control at Thames Water, said: “We’re very sorry to customers affected by this burst pipe. Our teams are working as fast as they can to plan how to best fix the main with the minimum of disruption, plus our engineers are reviewing our pipe network to see if we can bring in water from elsewhere.

“Please keep an eye on our website throughout today (Thursday) for further updates.”

Many angry residents have taken to Twitter as their wait for water has ticked past eight hours.

@Raif_1983 tweeted Thames Water saying: "any idea when people in Enfield will have running water again? It's been 8 hours and counting."

Traffic lights have been set up on the road where the pipe has burst
