A paedophile who “marred the teenage years” of two girls was sentenced to more than ten years behind bars.

Mustafa Seyranoglu, 34, of Pinnata Close, Enfield, “manipulated and corrupted” the two, who are 14 and 15, while working as a learning mentor at a school in the borough.

The 34-year-old father changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on nine counts including four counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, three counts of sexual assault on female, one count of causing to incite a girl, aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity; and one count of perverting the course of justice.

At the sentencing today at Wood Green Crown Court, prosecution Emma Smith QC told the court that Seyranoglu had sex with the 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, more than ten times at his home, in his car and at the school.

The pair started a sexual relationship in March 2014 until July 2014 after the 15-year-old went to the learning mentor to discuss relationship issues.

QC Smith said: “The messages on the phone show that it was clear the defendant was telling her to destroy the telephone, say I cannot remember or fake a blackout when questioned by police.”

Three days later the girl revealed the extent of her relationship with the 34-year-old to her aunt and by this stage, Seyranoglu had been put on gardening leave by the school.

The second victim, 14, had earlier approached Seyranoglu with similar relationship issues a month prior to the 15-year-old.

QC Smith added: “She explained he was a learning mentor, she went to him for help. There after she describes how he manipulated the conversation into sexual matters. This lead to her exposing herself to him and him touching her breasts.”

Seyranoglu then forced the 14-year-old to have oral sex with him.

In his sentencing, Judge James Patrick condemned the actions of the mentor and revealed there was just one day between stopping his relations with the 14-year-old and starting his relationship with the second victim.

He said: “The first complainant has diabetes, a condition you both share. You quickly crossed boundaries and manipulated the conversation around sexual matters where you moved to touch her inappropriately and caused her to undress and expose herself to you. This would happen frequently, sometimes daily.

“By then you had already turned your attention to your second victim, she too was referred to you because of relationship problems. Initially your contact was appropriate but later you suggested you were in love with her and said nothing to stop her infatuation with you. You exploited and manipulated it.

“You took her virginity a day after stopping with the first complainant and had sex with her at your home, your car and the school for two months. She was 15 and was a child in your care.”

The Judge also revealed that after Seyranoglu had been bailed with a condition of not to contact either victim, he phoned the 15-year-old girl and “manipulated her and made her feel guilty.”

Judge Patrick added: “I have to sentence you for the sexual corruption of two girls who you knew were both under 16 and committed to your care.

“What you have done to them has marred the teenage years and will no doubt have an effect on their lives for many years to come.”

Along with the 10-and-a-half year sentence for the nine counts, Seyranoglu was given sexual harm prevention order with the conditions: not to be in the company of any child under the age of 16 unless accompanied by an adult who is aware of his conviction not to get in touch with any family members of the children and not to seek to contact or communicate with a child under the age of 16.
