Schoolchildren displayed nimble footwork as they took part in the annual folk dance festival.

More than 500 children from 13 schools performed a host of multicultural dances celebrated in folk traditions from Africa, Italy and Turkey at Forty Hall.

The Maypole also featured in an elaborate dance that had the children twining colourful ribbons.

A mystery special guest also features on the stately grounds with George and his dragon wowing the primary school pupils.

Councillor Ayfer Orhan, Enfield council’s cabinet member for education, children’s services and protection, said: “This spectacular event shows children carrying on the traditions that have entertained people for centuries.

“The children enjoyed a great day in the open and bringing a lot of pleasure to the people at Forty Hall.”
