More than 25 carers have been honoured for their work with children.
The 27 carers including childminders, children’s centres, private nurseries and pre-schools were rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
The minders, who all care for children aged two to four, were invited to a special tea and networking event at the Millfield Theatre, in Edmonton, where they received their certificates from Enfield council cabinet member for education Councillor Ayfer Orhan.
Cllr Orhan said: “We are particularly proud of our providers. Their service is essential for more than 4,800 two to four-year-olds, whose parents may be working; training for employment or busy in some other ways.
“Ofsted inspects every registered childcare provider regularly. These carers support parents and help children to learn and prepare for school. I am looking forward to meeting them and congratulating them personally.”
Ofsted chief inspector of schools Sir Michael Wilsher added: “I have said many times since my arrival at Ofsted that the importance of early years is beyond question. We all know from the research that children’s early years are a period of rapid development and vital for building a secure foundation for future personal and academic success.”
