Students at a special needs school strutted their stuff as they put together a fashion show.

Sixth formers at Durants School, in Pitfield Way, Enfield, put together the show for dignitaries and fellow pupils.

The project to was aimed to help students develop their life skills and give them confidence in communication ahead of leaving the school into adult life.

The pressure was on to organise and select clothes and music for the event but the students lived up to expectations and wowed visitors with their half-hour show.

Headteacher at the school, Peter De Rosa said: “The students who took part in this project have made great progress towards developing the skills they will require to get a job and have useful working lives.

“Durants aims to prepare students for work by quipping them with relevant and useful vocational and work skills. This project has certainly helped the students to achieve this.”

Joan Ryan, MP for Enfield North said: “I was very impressed by the event - it was a fantastic showcase for the talents of students at Durants School.

“This project has clearly given them a big boost to their self-esteem and has helped them to develop some important skills – such as communication and organisational skills – which will be of great benefit to them in the workplace.”

Students have worked with company Inquisitive Services throughout the year to help sixth formers write CVs, have mock interviews with business volunteers, visit small businesses around Enfield and understand finance by going to Bank of England.
