Shoppers looked on in amazement as Enfield Town staged its first musical flashmob.
Members of the Southgate Opera Society set up the flashmob in palace gardens, Enfield, last weekend to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of London Borough of Enfield.
Councillor Achilleas Georgiou, deputy leader of Enfield council said: “This was a brilliant way for Enfield Council and Southgate Opera to showcase the talent Enfield has to offer, promote the LBE50 campaign and offer shoppers in Enfield Town some fantastic free entertainment.
“LBE50 is all about marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of the London Borough of Enfield in style and there’ll be a whole host of events taking place around the borough this year so I’d urge organisations and individuals to get involved and help us celebrate the borough’s 50th birthday.”
Southgate Opera is also holding a production, The Merry Widow, which starts at the Enfield Choral & Orchestral Music Festival across Enfield from June, 24–July 12.
