A man is set to stand trial at the Old Bailey today accused of beheading a great-grandmother on the streets of Edmonton.
Nicholas Salvador, 25, of Gilda Avenue, in Ponders End, is accused of murdering Palmira Silva with a machete in her front garden in Nightingale Road, Edmonton on September 4.
He has also been charged with actual bodily harm against police officer Bernard Hamilton.
Mr Salvador has denied both charges by reason of insanity. The trial at the Old Bailey is expected to start at 11am and is set to last one to two days.
