People wore dancing shoes instead of hike boots for an annual charity night walk.

The theme for this year’s 15km Enfield Night Hike last Friday was disco party night, which was organised by Enfield Borough Council to raise money for the Nightingale Cancer Support Centre, in Lancaster Road, Enfield and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.

Walkers put on their glad rags, flashing deelyboppers and neon bands to strut their stuff for the two local charities.

Staff from North Middlesex University Hospital also took part in the event to raise money for the causes.

North Middlesex University Hospital chief executive Julie Lowe said: "It was a great community event and we were really pleased to be able to support it. We had staff from our therapies department, paediatrics and theatres and their families.

"Many of us live locally so it's great to walk the borough on a pleasant summer's evening and have the opportunity to support worthwhile local causes."

Enfield Council deputy leader councillor Achilleas Georgiou said: “The Enfield Night Hike is a really popular annual event and is enormous fun to take part in.

“It was good to see people getting dressed up to boogie on down round the route and help us raise lots of money for two fantastic causes.”
