A mother is urging people to vote for her parenting blog in a national competition.

The blog Not So Smug Now: No Bullshit Baby Tales – which was created by Harrow mother of one Cat Sims - was chosen from hundreds of nominees as a candidate for the Brilliance in Blogging Award in the fresh voice category.

The blog has built a loyal following from mums and dads alike due to its no-nonsense approach to parenthood, posting details of the trials and tribulations faced by new parents.

Cat Sims has also used her blog to create events for London mothers wanting more from mums groups than a soggy custard cream and a dirty ball pool.

Mrs Sims said: “When I gave birth for the first time, I was in shock for about six weeks.

“I’d been told it would be the most magical and wonderful experience of my life and, while I was over the moon to be a momma, I really struggled with the reality of what having a brand new baby who relies on you to live 24 hours a day.

“Being a new mum is hard and I think we need to be ok about saying that without fear of being called a rubbish mum. So, that’s why I started the blog.”

The Harrow mother has just one day left to receive more votes before the finalists are announced.
