More than 2,000 of Enfield’s scouts and guides paraded in Enfield Town to mark St George’s Day.

Celebrations had taken place over the weekend and the scouts were led by Enfield District Scout band as they wended their way through the town centre yesterday.

There they were addressed by the deputy mayor, Councillor Patricia Ekechi, Lisa Sylvester, the Commissioner for Girlguiding in Enfield and Paul Symons, the volunteer responsible for scouts in Enfield, as well as being entertained by a representation of the mythical story of St George.

Mr Symons said: “I was knocked out be the smart and enthusiastic turnout of the young people today. They all had fun and entertained those who came to watch. I am proud of them, and grateful to the leaders who give up their time to help young people in Scouting.”
