Initial responses were mixed at the rebirth of the former pub after complaints about late night drinking and anti-social behavior around the pub.

The new owners, Mark and Eimear Walsh, are spending £109,000 and the brother and sister partnership are hoping to the pub will fit in with the area.

Ms Walsh said: “Mark and I will both be living at The Winchmore and are looking forward to meeting our new neighbours and giving the community back a much improved pub.  We’ve already joined the residents association and can’t wait to open the doors and welcome people in.

“We are sourcing food locally and shall have fruit and vegetables from Forty Hall Farm and cheese from Wildes, Tottenham's artisan cheesemaker. Coming from our backgrounds, we’re both passionate about offering quality and excellent service and believe this is what the people of Winchmore Hill expect.

“We have got a facebook page so people can follow the progress of the refurbishment and are delighted that before even opening we have 265 followers.”

Chris Jowsey, trading director of Star Pubs & Bars added:  “We’re delighted that Mark and Eimear have taken on The Winchmore and that together we are investing in its long term future.

“To be successful in today’s market, pubs must improve their offering to customers and this means investing in pubs like The Winchmore  to create a welcoming and relevant environment for all customers.

“The Winchmore is a fantastic pub and in a great location.  Mark and Eimear’s knowledge and passion for quality together with great food, beer, cider and coffee, will I am sure result in The Winchmore becoming a much visited and much loved pub.”
