Free English and maths workshops are being offered for children ahead of the Easter holidays.

Explore Learning, in Crown Road, Enfield, is opening its doors on March 31, from 10am for a free session that will include creative writing, number crunching, phonics and learning how to write with comedic flair.

Carey Ann Dodah, head of curriculum at Explore Learning, said: “Parents will rack their brains for fun and affordable activities to do over the Easter holidays so we hope that we can offer families who’ve never been to see us before a place to bring their children where they know they are having fun while learning something new.

“Our aim is to encourage children to love English and maths and to help build their confidence in class, while parents get the reassurance that their children are paying a bit of attention to their studies over the school holidays.”

Running from 10am until 6pm. Sessions include:

  • 10am to 11am: Fun with Phonics – ages five to six
  • 11.30am to 12.30am: Number Bonds – ages six to seven
  • 1pm to 2pm: National Young Writers’ Award Creative Writing – ages seven to 11. Children who submit their written entry will have the chance to win a trip to Disneyland Paris.
  • 2.30pm to 3.30pm: Reigning Romans – ages eight to ten
  • 4pm to 5pm: Humorous Language – ages 11 to 14
