Enfield Borough Council will bring its housing service in-house next month.

Enfield Homes was set up by the local authority in 2008 but not as a department of the council.

The service will be brought 'in-house' from April 1.

Councillor Ahmet Oykener, cabinet member for housing, said: “The Enfield Homes Board and staff worked hard improving customer satisfaction and delivering £125 million of decent homes and major capital works.

“This excellent work has secured a strong foundation for us to continue working with residents and since we are retaining the staff it will be business as usual. My thanks go to all those who have worked so hard at Enfield Homes.”

Outgoing Enfield Homes chairwoman Vicky Dungate said: “I wish for the smoothest transition in the efforts to continue to deliver excellent services to residents, which has always been our main purpose and intention.”

Paul Davey, assistant housing director, said: “Not only will we continue to deliver high quality services, but we will also take advantage of closer working links with our council colleagues to deliver a more co-ordinated and improved performance. I would like to say a huge thank you to all those who have contributed to this success.”
